How to get to Puente Cuyabeno

Option 1: Private Tourist Shuttle ($30 one-way or $60 roundtrip per person)

Departure from Mariscal area at Blue House Hostel (Joaquin Pinto E8-24 y Diego de Almagro) at 10:50 pm.

*Return to Quito: The drop off is at José de Antepara y Rios, in the Old Town or at Ventimilla and Juan León Mera, in La Mariscal. So please keep in mind that you might have to take a taxi to your accommodation after arriving in Quito.

Option 2: Public Bus ($14 one-way or $28 roundtrip per person)

Get to the Quitumbe Bus Terminal around 9.20 pm (Putamayo company) This company goes direct to El Puente Cuyabeno, departure at 9:30 pm.


Day 1


  • Meet at 10:30 am Puente Cuyabeno
  • Our guide will be waiting for you and we will take a canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to our lodge, Our guide will explain about the reserve, animals, and plants that we will encounter on our journey into the deep jungle.
  • Lunch
  • Visit the Laguna Grande to swim and enjoy the sunset
  • Dinner
  • Exciting night walk

Day 2


  • Breakfast
  • Morning: three-hour hike in the primary forest to learn about flora and fauna, especially to know about medicinal plants, frogs, insects, birds, etc.
  • Lunch at the camp
  • You have some time to relax
  • In the afternoon you can paddle in a traditional canoe on the Lagoons or rivers to explore and enjoy the uniqueness of nature. Where you can swim and enjoy the sunset. If conditions permit, you may be able to see pink dolphins
  • Return to lodge
  • Dinner

Day 3


  • Breakfast
  • Experience in paddle trip to look for animals and enjoy nature with its natural sound
  • Lunch
  • Rest, swim in the pool of the dolphins, if the tourists request the community and the shaman they will come to the lodge
  • Dinner
  • Exciting night canoe expedition in search of caimans and anacondas

Day 4


  • Early morning bird watching
  • Breakfast
  • Navigating the Cuyabeno River back to El Puente.
  • Box Lunch.
  • Return to Quito by public or private bus.
