How to get to Puente Cuyabeno
Option 1: Private Tourist Shuttle ($30 one-way or $60 roundtrip per person)
Departure from Mariscal area at Blue House Hostel (Joaquin Pinto E8-24 y Diego de Almagro) at 10:50 pm.
*Return to Quito: The drop off is at José de Antepara y Rios, in the Old Town or at Ventimilla and Juan León Mera, in La Mariscal. So please keep in mind that you might have to take a taxi to your accommodation after arriving in Quito.
Option 2: Public Bus ($14 one-way or $28 roundtrip per person)
Get to the Quitumbe Bus Terminal around 9.20 pm (Putamayo company) This company goes direct to El Puente Cuyabeno, departure at 9:30 pm.
Itinerary
Day 1
ENTRANCE – CUYABENO:
- Meet at 10:30 am Puente Cuyabeno
- Our guide will be waiting for you.
- Canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to our lodge, Our guide will explain about the reserve, animals, and plants that we will encounter on our journey into the deep jungle.
- Lunch
- Visit the Laguna Grande to swim and enjoy the sunset
- Dinner
- Take part in an exciting night walk
Day 2
HIKING DAY – COMMUNITY VISIT:
- Breakfast
- Morning: three hours hike in the primary forest to learn about flora and fauna, especially to know about medicinal plants, frogs, insects, birds, etc.
- Lunch at the camp
- afternoon rest and swimming front our lodge and walking for looking animals or medicine plants
- Return to camp
- Dinner
- Go on an exciting night canoe expedition in search of caimans and boas.
Day 3
CUYABENO – LAGO AGRIO – QUITO:
- Early morning bird watching
- Breakfast
- Navigating the Cuyabeno River back to El Puente
- Box Lunch
- Transfer to El Puente, Return to Quito by public or private bus.
